LOS ANGELESOn Friday, the same day that longtime adult performer Ron Jeremy is scheduled to be arraigned in Los Angeles on multiple rape and sexual assault charges, Mercedes Carrera and her husband Daemon Cins were set to finally get a pre-trial hearing on the child sexual abuse charges they have been facing since their arrest 17 months ago. But that June 26 court date for Carrera and Cins has now been pushed back again, the sixth-consecutive delay for a pre-trial hearing in the case that sees them facing allegations that they repeatedly sexually abused Carreras daughter, who was nine years old at the time the incidents are alleged to have occurred. Carrera and Cins are facing the charges in San Bernardino County Superior Court, with the hearing scheduled, like all previous courtroom appearances in the case, at Rancho Cucamonga Courthouse. According to documents posted online by the court, the pre-trial hearing is now set for Monday July 20, at 8:30 a.m. in the Rancho Cucamonga court. Unless there is another delay, or if Carrera and Cins change their “not guilty” pleas, they will go to trial on the charges no later than September 20 which is 60 days from the pre-trial hearing, the maximum allowed under the Constitutions speedy trial provision. The Rancho Cucamonga Courthouse has been open on a limited basis since June 1, with hearings on criminal cases staggered between 8:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. The online court documents gave no reason for the latest delay in the Carrera/Cins case, and the public defender representing Carrera, Joshua Castro, did not respond to an AVN request for comment. Despite numerous court appearances, prosecutors have presented evidence at just one hearing, on August 8 of last year. During that hearing, they played an audio recording of the alleged victim, identified only as Jane Doe, graphically describing sexual acts she says that Carrera and Cins performed on her during what they referred to as cuddle sessions.
